Fashion At It’s Finest

If you’re reading this then chances are, like me, you love a little fashion.  Last week’s Met Gala honoring the late beloved Karl Lagerfeld welcomed an insanely gorgeous display of fashion, as expected.  Having all the glitz and glam so publicly displayed allows the viewers, the fashion obsessed or perhaps just the fashion curious, an up close and personal glimpse into the who, why, when, where and how.

The Met Gala,Met Ball or Costume Institute, whichever you prefer; is an annual gala that honors and highlights a new focus in fashion each year and benefits the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute in NYC. Since 1995, Anna Wintour, editor in chief at American Vogue, has chaired this historic event on the first Monday of May.  Fashion lovers flock to this event each year, giving them a chance to admire the stunning gown, hair, makeup and of course that year’s exhibit.  This year’s event gave everything you’d expect and more.  Clearly lots of highlighting Karl and his creations as many chose to stay on theme, while others branched off in an effort to make their own mark.

I have been fortunate to attend the Met Ball over my career and I’d be lying if I didn’t say my favorite part is always seeing who puts their looks together the best.  The guests have to contemplate the theme, an outfit that will suit them and how their hair, makeup, shoes and jewelry accentuate and compliment their look.   Additional things many models have to consider is what designer Anna has asked you to wear, who your guest is (if they’re a designer you better bet you’re wearing their design) and what your guest is wearing, if you happen to get a plus one.
Below is my breakdown of my favorite fashions at this years’ Met!  What are your thoughts on my pictures and do you have any favorites?

Kate and Lila Moss

I think Kate may have found the elixir for eternal youth and I would like some please.  Also, I believe it is actually impossible for Kate to go wrong in fashion, she creates the mark for us to try to hit. Lila is an equal stunner, always. Both in Fendi – Mom and daughter goals

Rhianna and ASAP

You can’t deny style when it’s this real. I’m obsessed with how they both fully owned the theme and also managed to bring their own style into it. I dream of having style this good

Karen Elson

I may be biased since we grew up together but, my God she looks gorgeous! I’m loving Karens new shorter red chop and love how she kept it simple as well as her makeup as to not overwhelm the look.  As a Karl girl once and forever, Karen paid tribute to the master head to toe, looking like the goddess she is.

Nicole Kidman

Again, she can’t really go wrong for me.  Even if she did, I would likely rethink my position since I think she has impeccable taste!  Additionally, the simple hair and makeup not only makes her beauty shine but, it doesn’t distract from the simplistic classic beautiful gown.  This 2004 Chanel gown, designed by Karl himself, was worn by Nicole in a Chanel No. 5 commercial.

Jared Leto

You’ve got to admire someone who sticks with the theme, can add humor and still look good.  I know it sounds silly but, his Choupette (Karl’s cat) outfit was incredible.  I think Karl would have admired the classic touch it had.  Not cartoonish, just very straightforward.  I also love how seriously he seemed to be taking himself in it.  He definitely owned it.

Here are a few of my favorite Met Gala looks of my own!  These guys above all clearly crushed me in the style department but, there is always room to hit your mark next time!
